"One less freedom for us today, then one less freedom for someone else tomorrow."

The quote came from my brother’s shirt that I am wearing today just as I am writing this blog. I happened to wear this on the day that I attended a seminar about financial planning.

The timing could not been more perfect. I have a new job working in a new company earning a little less than my previous job. We have a lot of debts and the oil prices is soaring high. The same goes with the basic necessities like food, water, rent, etc. Normally I would just rant, complain, blame, and rant again in those times. This is not the first time I have been in this kind of situation. It’s like a cycle. One moment you have lots of money, the next you’re broke. One concrete example is just two or three months ago, I had around more or less thirty thousand pesos in the palm of my hand (don’t ask me how I was able to get that kind of money *wink*), now I only have around a thousand bucks in my savings account and about a two thousand with me (half of it would go to expenses). What happened with the thirty thousand pesos? Gone. Why? Because I didn’t know how to use it wisely.

After attending the Series 1 of the seminar which is about "Financial/Wealth Management," I learned why the thirty thousand pesos that I used to have on my hand went to the drain. I didn’t know how to spend it, I didn’t know how to save properly, and most of all, I didn’t know how to use it wisely. In the short amount of time that I spent in the seminar, I have learned a lot about using money wisely. There are six steps that were presented for "Financial Planning." I won’t be listing it down here in the meantime since I’ll be out in a few minutes.

I learned a lot in the seminar in terms of how to use your money and I plan to attend the other series of seminar. I don’t know how far I can go but it’s a start. I’m not getting any younger and it about time I became independent, financially.
